Student's Projects SoSe 19

A compilation from the courses of the EIK institute.

As the city of Leipzig grows, so do the demands on local museums. The classic tasks of exhibition halls and the needs of their visitors are constantly changing.

With the design task for the Grassi Museum, the students are to find answers to the three museum parts with concrete usage requirements for a lapidarium as well as a library and depot areas in order to increase the quality of the museum and to cover the space requirements that have arisen. In the competition and ranking among the museums, it is important to work out the unique selling points of the collection and to present these special features as effectively as possible to the public.

The aim of the specalisation is to specify the present design and to deal with the design of the interior spaces in greater depth. The main focus is on the Lapidarum, the heart of the building, which will be shown in interior perspectives.

The Felsenmeer has been very popular with young and old for many years. In the past decades, the tourist offer has been continuously expanded. An information centre at the foot of the rocky mountain vividly explains the formation process of today's Felsenmeer and at the same time serves as a meeting and starting point for hiking tours and climbing.

The students' task is to develop a shelter in the clearing on the southern slope of the Felsberg. A simple, maximum two-storey hostel building is to be designed and constructed

Accompanying the design, the seminar deals with the architecture of the ephemeral and explores the various forms of funerary art and their meaning.
